Description:

Kings of Leon return with the release of their highly anticipated fourth album 'Only By The Night' on 22nd September through Columbia Records. 'Only By The Night' is a bold and expansive sonic statement that looks set to solidify Kings of Leon's position as one of the most important international acts of 2008 and beyond. It follows rapidly in the footsteps of the bands previous albums 'Youth And Young Manhood', 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' & 'Because Of The Times', which have quickly established them as one of the most prolific and acclaimed acts around.

2Your good music is on fireJul 28, 2010
This is by far the worst Kings of Leon album. I have seen Kings of Leon live three times. Their live show is great and they are a talented band. However, this album is crap compared to their first three albums. If you are looking to get into Kings of Leon..then start with Youth and Young Manhood, then Aha Shake Heartbreak, then Because of the Times. If you are so into Kings that you have got to hear more, then by this album..or better yet listen to each track on youtube so that you know what you are getting yourself into.

1Severely overratedJul 10, 2010
I'm not a former fan of KOL and probably never will be based on this album. So I can't rant from the same angle of so many who say this is a let down from the past. So I can't disagree with them and totally understand as that has been the M.O. of many bands lately who produced great music from 2001-2007 and followed it up with absolute trash. I try to follow new, but obscure, indie and alternative music as much as I can and 2008-2010 has been bleak at best. If this is what is standard or popular, we've taken yet another turn toward a denegration of a music genre (as with country, rap, grunge, etc.).

For the past year I've had a new job where I drive a truck for about 5-6 hours a day that has no CD player. I can't wear headphones so I'm forced to listen to the radio. I use it as a way to pick up on new music. In that year I've constantly heard 4 tracks from this CD. After a year, Sex on Fire is finally starting to sound tolerable. The other 3 songs only sound worse with time. I find that highly unusual. Typically, new music you don't like at first grows on you at least a little. Use Somebody is the worst. I wanna gouge out my eardrums everytime I hear that song.

To me the most tolerable song is Crawl and it's still mediocre at best. The intro has a very annoying sound. However, once that's over the singer's voice is more palatable than in other songs and the music just seems more substantive. Maybe it's the darker overtone, but it definitely took only one or two listens for me to tolerate it.

I like how a lot of 1 star reviews compare this to Nickelback. What an atrocious band that never should get airplay...ever. Yet they do. Uhg! This album is similar. We shouldn't have to hear that voice and the bland, bland music so many times on the radio. It's always a sign to me that we're being force-fed what "they" want us to like. Maybe it's because I'm not a former fan, but I don't get the gripes about how KOL have become pandering corporate-rock sellouts, making bubblegum music for hit radio. I don't think it's even good enough for that. Like a couple people have written, how can anyone honestly think this is good music? To me, KOL sounds like the worst of Bruce Springsteen mixed with the worst of Journey; two very overrated bands. While Journey was a good band who made some great songs, they never had a great album and every album always had 1 or 2 lousy, trite ballads that got way too much radio play. Ditto for this KOL album.

Maybe it's just not for me. To each his own. Taste is a subjective matter anyway, but this album makes me hesitant to listen to the old stuff that former fans say is actually good.

5I dig this albumMay 19, 2010
I really enjoy this album. Usually there's 4-5 songs I don't really enjoy on an album, only 1 on this one!

CD arrived in great condition and on time. No complaints here...and the price was right.

5Loved itMay 09, 2010
Best new music around. Catchy beat and lyrics - many different tempos.
I can listen to this CD over and over and not get bored.
